Day 3: GAETI-Common Core, lesson plans, works session, GPS/Geochaching, Online Resources, Games and Skills

Today has been eventful, interesting and informative.  There was so much information to process today.   The morning activities included the breakdown of MS College and Career Readiness Standards and how they apply to subject areas.  We had to analyze a lesson plan and determine the rating and if it had the components of the standards.  We were given a rubric to assess the lesson.  This is the best presentation that I have had on the training of the standards.  The activities that the presenter used where beneficial for understanding of the subject.  The GPS/Geocaching activity was an adventure.  I enjoyed using the GPS system and Google Maps on my cell phone to find the coordinates around the campus.  I also like the fact that when we made it to the designated destination there was a question we had to answer by scanning a QR code to find the information to the question.  The online resources that we received to help with GPS activities will aid in helping students to learn how to find geographical locations using coordinates.  The games and skills presentation helped me to find and create games for my Science students.  I also learned how to change compatibility options on the computer to play older games and programs. I have learned a lot today and will use it in my class. This is a great workshop.
